We met with our friends from Magherafelt Primary and the Gaelscoil today to take part in a local study of Magherafelt. We started our tour at the Bridewell and then proceeded in groups to participate in a Walk to the Court House and the Workhouse (MID Ulster hospital site). We continued with Timestep Living History with the old gaol mistress Mrs Lavery who guided us through the Bridewell Cells and the old Graveyard. We got a real insight into what life was like in the 1800s. We finished with Mildred in the library who showed us what school was like many years ago. It was great to see the old school photographs and play games that children played back then.
